LOS ANGELES – National labor and employment law firm Constangy, Brooks, Smith & Prophete, LLP is pleased to welcome William Emanuel to the firm’s Los Angeles office. Emanuel, who recently completed a four-year term on the National Labor Relations Board, is one of California’s most respected labor relations attorneys.
Emanuel brings more than four decades of labor relations experience to Constangy, where he will serve as a senior strategist for key labor relations clients, particularly in the California market, where Constangy opened its first office in 2016. Today, the firm has more than 30 attorneys practicing in California, with offices in Los Angeles, Orange County and San Francisco.
Prior to his appointment to the NLRB, Emanuel practiced at Littler Mendelson for many years. Emanuel has also practiced at Jones Day, Morgan Lewis, and Musick Peeler & Garrett. He has been a member of the American Bar Association's committee on developing labor law and the Federalist Society's labor and employment practice group executive committee.
Emanuel said he is looking forward to this new chapter in his long and storied career. “In just a few short years, Constangy has established itself as a major presence in California employment law, and I’m excited to join them now in such an agile and entrepreneurial environment.”
“We are thrilled to have Bill on board in California. His experience in helping healthcare companies navigate the complexities of labor relations is a great fit for us, said Ken Sulzer, managing partner of Constangy’s Los Angeles office. “I also think he will be an outstanding source of sage wisdom and advice for our younger attorneys.”
“Labor relations has been a cornerstone of our firm from its beginnings in 1946, and has certainly been in the forefront of many employers’ concerns over the past few years,” said Neil Wasser, chair of the firm’s executive committee. “Having an attorney of Bill’s stature and experience is a fantastic way to close out our 75th anniversary year and will certainly help us stay ahead of the game as the labor relations environment continues to evolve.”
