Constangy partners Laura Balson and Ashley Orler will present a program on discrimination laws at the 26th Annual Illinois SHRM State Conference. This event will take place from March 31 - April 2 at the EVEN Hotel & Tinley Park Convention Center in Tinley Park, IL.

The Annual Illinois SHRM State Conference is an event that provides human resource professionals with learning and networking opportunities. The conference features three days of informative sessions covering a wide range of HR topics, from legal challenges to recruitment, retention, HR technologies, and employee engagement.

Laura and Ashley's session, "Decoding Discrimination Laws: What Employers Need to Know," is scheduled for Tuesday, April 1 from 10:30 - 11:15 a.m. This program is designed to help HR professionals understand discrimination and harassment laws and equip them with skills to prevent, identify, and respond to discrimination in the workplace.

Laura Balson is the managing partner of Constangy's Chicago office and co-chair of the firm's Whistleblower & Retaliation practice group. Ashley Orler is a partner out of Constangy's Chicago office. Ashley partners with businesses to optimize their workforce while minimizing risk. She provides practical employment counseling on contracts, policies, terminations, compliance, and workplace investigations. Ashley also delivers in-person and virtual training on harassment prevention, discrimination, performance documentation, and substance abuse. With extensive litigation experience, she defends employers in agency audits, arbitrations, and court cases involving harassment, wage disputes, and Equal Pay Act claims. She also advises on trade secret protection and restrictive covenants.
