Focusing on Solutions that Support Both Employers and Workplaces
Dean’s practice is focused on representing employers in a wide range of labor and employment law matters. He works with management teams across various industries, representing them in both state and federal courts, as well as before government agencies at the local, state, and federal levels.
Dean regularly assists employers with workplace matters such as:
- Responding to claims of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation.
- Representing employers in all proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), including pre and post secret ballot election hearings.
- Advising employers during unionization campaigns.
- Defending against charges before the NLRB.
- Advising on labor relations, including collective bargaining, advising concerning grievances, and representing employers at arbitration.
- Conducting supervisor training on topics like workplace investigations, bias awareness, and positive employee relations.
By drawing on his experience as a labor and employment attorney, community advocate, and his own personal background, Dean works to help organizations build workplace cultures that are productive, respectful, and inclusive.
Litigation Experience Across Missouri and Beyond
In addition to advising employers on day-to-day compliance and workplace strategies, Dean also represents clients in litigation involving employment claims. He has handled cases before a variety of state and federal trial courts, the federal court of appeals, the Missouri Court of Appeals, and the Missouri Supreme Court. His work has included successfully briefing and arguing an issue of first impression before both the Missouri Court of Appeals and the Missouri Supreme Court.
While litigation is part of his practice, Dean also regularly provides training to help employers identify and address potential issues before they escalate. His training topics have included implicit bias, anti-harassment, and positive employee relations.
