Overview
Deepa defends employers in a wide range of workplace matters, including discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and wage and hour claims.
Deepa also focuses a significant portion of her practice on providing strategic advice to help businesses navigate complex employment laws and mitigate risk in an evolving regulatory landscape. She regularly counsels clients on compliance with new and existing federal, state, and local employment laws. She also works closely with HR departments, offering guidance on new hire onboarding, terminations, personnel policies, employee classifications, and wage and hour compliance.
Prior to joining Constangy, Deepa practiced corporate law at an AmLaw 100 firm, where she counseled startup companies and venture capital investors on governance and transactional matters.
Deepa earned her law degree from Berkeley Law, where she gained hands-on experience in employment and civil litigation. She served as a law clerk at the U.S. Department of Justice, defending against employment discrimination and tort claims. She also externed at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and co-directed the Wage Justice Clinic, dealing with wage claims before the California Labor Commissioner.
Her diverse legal background gives her a unique perspective when advising employers on workplace policies and risk management strategies.
