Constangy is pleased to announce that Ryan Steidl, J.D., MBA, CIPP/E, and former Grant Thornton Senior Manager of Privacy & Data Protection, has joined the firm’s Cybersecurity & Data Privacy Practice as a partner. Steidl is based in Seattle and will strengthen the firm’s compliance advisory team, providing comprehensive data privacy and security services to clients, helping them proactively navigate the ever-evolving regulatory landscape in the U.S. and abroad.

Before joining Constangy, Steidl served eight years at Grant Thornton, one of the largest audit, assurance and advisory firms in the U.S., with a substantial international presence. He also led projects involving M&A due diligence, technology integrations, and information governance programs involving domestic and global privacy regulations. Prior to Grant Thornton, Steidl served with Under Armour Legal’s Connected Fitness and Digital team supporting the company’s privacy compliance and risk management for apps, wearables, and e-commerce.

“We are thrilled to welcome Ryan to the firm and look forward to incorporating his services as we continue to grow our data compliance practice nationwide,” said Neil Wasser, chair of the firm’s executive committee. “Ryan’s impressive background counseling high-profile companies in today’s complicated patchwork of U.S. and international data privacy law presents an amazing opportunity for clients facing these challenging issues.”

Steidl is admitted to practice in Maryland and serves as an adjunct professor at the Seattle University School of Law and Seattle University College of Science and Engineering. He earned his law degree from the University of Maryland Carey School of Law, his Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland Smith School of Business, and his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Pennsylvania State University.
