National labor, employment, and cybersecurity law firm Constangy, Brooks, Smith & Prophete, LLP is pleased to announce Jason Scott has joined the firm’s Cyber Team as senior counsel and is located in the Washington D.C. office. Jason joins the 61-member team, continuing the firm’s expansion of service to clients in this critical area of business.

He has substantial experience managing responses to data privacy and security incidents. He brings over 25 years of information technology and security experience, having served as a network manager for an insurance company, a program director supporting a national training organization for state and federal prosecutors, and a digital forensics investigator for national cybersecurity consulting organizations. Jason has managed responses to hundreds of data security incidents across multiple business sectors involving highly regulated entities.

Jason has developed subject matter expertise with a number of regulatory frameworks, including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), and a number of cybersecurity frameworks, including the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS). He has also provided a variety of proactive services to businesses such as information security program management, incident response planning and tabletop exercises. Jason’s experience with information technology and security provides him unique insights in mitigating cybersecurity risks and limiting associated liability. As a Constangy Cyber Team member, he assists clients on a daily basis in responding to a variety of data privacy and security events, facilitating digital forensics investigations with information security professionals, and complying with consumer notification and regulatory reporting obligations.
