As part of her role as chair of the Cybersecurity & Data Privacy Committee of the American Bar Association’s (ABA) Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section, Constangy partner Lauren Godfrey, recently co-authored a book, “A Practical Guide to Cyber Insurance for Businesses,” that provides information to insurance brokers, underwriters, risk managers and businesses as each constituency works together to choose the right cyber insurance product for commercial companies.
Godfrey, a partner and member of the Constangy Cyber Team, also serves as the Chair of the Cybersecurity & Data Privacy Committee of the American Bar Association’s (ABA) Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section. Godfrey advises clients across a variety of business sectors on best practices in data privacy and information security. She guides clients in responding to data security incidents, conducting initial assessments of data security problems, and facilitating forensic and/or remediation services required to contain, analyze, investigate, and remediate the incident. In addition to breach response, Godfrey has experience across industries regarding data security incident prevention best practices, developing privacy and incident response policies, and information security policies. She also assists clients with comprehensive information security governance and response plans, and contracts in compliance with applicable privacy laws. Godfrey assesses clients’ consumer and regulatory notification obligations under applicable state, federal, and international laws, and assists clients with external communications such as consumer or employee notifications, regulatory reporting, and media holding statements. She holds the CIPP/US and CIPP/E credentials.
