Constangy attorney Chris Deubert published an article with Sports Litigation Alert on Nov. 4.
The article, “Lawsuit Against NFL Agent Demonstrates Financial Challenges of Industry,” discusses a Sept. 22, 2022 suit filed against NFL player agent Damarius Bilbo in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Georgia (22-cv-3823) by Opes Capital Fund I, LP, a private equity fund. The suit alleges that Bilbo has failed to repay loans totaling $1,325,000 which were intended as “short-term working capital for Mr. Bilbo’s professional sports agency enterprise.” Deubert details how common these types of loans are in the NFL agent business.
