Constangy is pleased to announce that Nicole Bermel and Steven Morris have joined the firm. Nicole will be based in the Tampa, Florida office, while Steven joins the Constangy Cyber Team in Atlanta, Georgia.
Nicole Bermel: Experienced Labor & Employment Litigator
Nicole is an accomplished labor and employment attorney with a strong background in defending employers in complex workplace disputes. Licensed in multiple jurisdictions, she has successfully handled high-stakes litigation, offering strategic counsel to businesses across industries such as healthcare, transportation, and manufacturing.
Her practice focuses on:
- Defending employers against discrimination and retaliation claims
- Advising on leave and accommodation compliance
- Guiding businesses through employee terminations and workplace investigations
- Drafting and enforcing restrictive covenants and non-compete agreements
- Developing litigation strategies, including discovery, depositions, dispositive motions, and trial preparation
With more than a decade of experience, Nicole has worked in both private practice and in-house counsel roles. Before joining Constangy, she practiced at an Am Law 200 firm and served as employment counsel for a Fortune 200 company.
Nicole earned her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude, from the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law and her Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, from Sewanee, the University of the South. She also gained judicial experience as a law clerk to the Honorable David R. Farmer of the Tennessee Court of Appeals and as a judicial extern to Federal Magistrate Judge Diane K. Vescovo.
Steven Morris: Strengthening Constangy’s Cyber Team
Steven joins Constangy’s Cyber Team, bringing experience in incident response, cybersecurity compliance, and technology law. Based in Atlanta, Steven is part of the firm’s rapid response team, assisting clients in addressing online security threats such as:
- Ransomware attacks
- Business email compromises
- Wire fraud and other cybercrimes
He works closely with forensic specialists and security experts to support clients during security incidents, ensuring compliance with state, federal, and contractual notification obligations.
Before joining Constangy, Steven advised clients on a wide range of business and technology matters, including:
- Intellectual property protection and content-related policies
- Cybersecurity risk assessments and compliance frameworks
- Technology transactions, licensing, and commercial agreements
- Litigation and dispute resolution involving intellectual property
Steven earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law, where he served as Articles Development Editor for the Virginia Sports & Entertainment Law Journal and as President of the Virginia Sports Law Society. He is licensed to practice in New York and Washington, D.C.
He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Stanford University.
