Constangy is pleased to announce that Bert Bender has joined the firm’s Cyber Team as a partner. He will be based in the firm’s Philadelphia office.

As a member of Constangy’s incident response team, Bender applies several years of experience managing responses to data privacy and security incidents. He assists clients with a variety of data privacy and security matters, including ransomware, business email account compromises, social engineering, and the recovery of funds stolen in fraudulent wire transfers and ACH payments. These responsibilities include facilitating digital forensics investigations, network restoration projects, ransom negotiations, public relations, consumer notification, remediation services, and responding to state and federal regulatory investigations. As a former litigator, he is keenly aware of the third-party liability that can arise during the incident response process, and he guides clients to mitigate that risk.

“We are thrilled to welcome Bert to Constangy as we continue to expand our services in cybersecurity,” said Neil, chair of Constangy’s executive committee. “His background as a litigator brings a unique perspective and skill set to incident management.”

Bender is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and served five years in the Marines as a Communications officer. He earned his law degree at Temple University – James E. Beasley School of Law and is licensed in both state and federal courts in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. During the first four years following law school, Bender gained experience in various types of litigation as an associate. Since 2019 he has focused his practice on helping clients of all types and sizes respond to hundreds of data privacy and security incidents.
