Matthew Basilotto

Matthew Basilotto is a member of the Constangy Cyber Team and is based near Warren, New Jersey.  As a member of our rapid response team, Matthew assists clients in responding to a variety of cyberattacks including ransomware, business email compromises, and various other types of cybercrime. In doing so, he works closely with clients and team members to deploy the necessary resources, such as digital forensics and network restoration services, to contain and remediate incidents. He also helps clients comply with state, federal and contractual consumer and regulatory notification obligations. Prior to joining Constangy, Matthew provided incident response services at another law firm for over two years.  Prior to that experience he served as a Senior Cyber Claims Examiner for a cyber insurance carrier in which he assisted insureds respond to cyber incidents involving ransomware, business email compromises, and inadvertent disclosures of protected information.  His experience with cyber insurance and in previously providing incident response services provides substantial value to our clients.

Matthew earned his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from New York Law School, where he was a Dean’s Scholar and a leader in the Privacy Law Association.  While in law school he also served as a law clerk for a law firm in which he developed an expertise in data privacy through drafting memoranda on new privacy legislation and analyzing privacy policies for compliance with the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”). He earned his Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, from Monmouth University. Matthew also holds the Certified Information Privacy Professional for United States laws (CIPP/US) credential from the International Associate of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).
