Constangy, Brooks, Smith & Prophete announces new offices in Miami and L.A., and new partners

NOTE FROM ROBIN: Only a few weeks after opening a new office in Miami, Florida, our firm has opened yet another new office -- this time, in Los Angeles-Century City. The following was sent by the firm to our clients earlier today. Welcome to our new attorneys Ken, Steve, Dave, Jennifer, and Fabian, and congratulations to new partners Heather, Angela, and Megan!

Our 70th anniversary milestone is an exciting time for us, and we are pleased to announce our continued expansion. We have opened additional offices in California and South Florida, and promoted more attorneys to partner.

The Los Angeles-Century City office and our firm's California presence will be led by nationally recognized employment litigator, Kenneth Sulzer. Ken is well connected and a class action powerhouse. He will head up our California Class Action practice group. Prior to joining our firm, Ken was a partner at Proskauer Rose LLP.

Ken is joined by senior counsel Steven Katz, who comes to us from Reed Smith LLP. Steve will help Ken to expand the firm's presence in California, specializing in complex employment litigation matters and class collective actions, especially those involving wage-hour issues.

“Ken and Steve's experience will allow us to better serve, at a very high level, our many clients with a California presence,” said Neil Wasser, chair of our executive committee.

The Century City office will represent employers in all areas of labor and employment law, and it will have a heavy focus on class action defense, including not only wage and hour claims, but also systemic discrimination and other labor laws. Ken and Steve will be our clients’ go-to lawyers for claims filed under California’s Private Attorney General Act as well.

Devand Sukhdeo has opened our new office in Miami, Florida. Dave is a top-rated employment and labor partner who specializes in employment discrimination and trade secrets for companies in many industries, including global clients. He's formerly of Jackson Lewis. Associates Jennifer Moore and Fabian Ruiz are also based in the Miami office.

We are also pleased to announce the promotion of three attorneys in our Kansas City office.

In January, the firm's executive committee advanced the following attorneys to partner: Heather Lake, Angela Tsevis and Megan Walawender.

"These three attorneys exemplify our firm's core values – balancing outstanding talent and deep skills with a down-to-earth approach to providing practical advice and building strong client relationships," said Wasser. "We're pleased to recognize their hard work, excellent lawyering and client development skills, and individual contributions to the success of our firm."

We are excited to kick off 2016 with the addition of new offices in major metropolitan cities, adding to our diverse and talented group of attorneys, and the promotion of new partners. As we continue to expand over the course of the next 70 years, we strive to be the national labor and employment law firm that provides legal service that consistently obtains the highest levels of success for our clients.

Robin Shea has 30 years' experience in employment litigation, including Title VII and the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act (including the Amendments Act).
